Awards & Innovations

Over the years the Lyell McEwin Regional Volunteer Association have emerged as a leader in the field of health based volunteerism. Listed below are those achievements we have been associated with that give us tremendous pride and which illustrate the innovative and cutting edge nature of the work that we do.

 

2010 Donna Amos awarded AAVA Award of Merit
   
2009 Independant Audit identified LMH Volunteers to be in the top 2.5% of Volunteer Agencies Worldwide in terms of volunteer management efficiencies
   
2008 LMRVA celebrates 20 years as an Incorporated body
  Association employs Special Projects & Grants manager to increase fundraising opportunities
  Director of Volunteers Donna Amos named on 2008 SA Women's Roll of Honour for her contributions to volunteer management

Donna Amos becomes President of AAVA (Australasian Assoc of Volunteer Administration)

  EO Andy Fryar invited to train across Scotland, the UK and Asia
   
2004 Executive Officer Andy Fryar, becomes the first person from Southern Hemisphere to be invited to join faculty of the Institute of Volunteer Management in the UK. Andy also trains across the USA, UK and Ireland
   
2003 Staff member Donna Amos, joins association as a member of the Board of AAVA - the Australasian Association of Volunteer Administrators, the national professional Association for volunteer management.
  The Volunteer Association's Executive Officer Andy Fryar, is presented with a Centenary Medal in recognition of his contribution to the volunteer movement in Australia
  Executive Officer Andy Fryar is invited to become a co-author of 'Volunteer Management: an essential guide' (2nd edition). This guide is Australia's premiere volunteer management publication.
   
2002 The 'Horizon Club', a program associated with Club 84 wins the state 'health' category in the 2002 National Community Link awards
  EO Andy Fryar invited to attend and present at the International Conference of Volunteer Administration in Denver, Colorado, USA
   
2001 The Club 84 program wins the state 'health' category in the National Community Link awards
  The Volunteer Association's history book 'The Spirit of the North' is written by Ann Taylor and published by the Association
  EO Andy Fryar attends and presents at the Asia Pacific Conference of IAVE in New Dehli, India
  Staff member Rosie Williams invited to attend and present at World Volunteering Conference in Amsterdam, Netherlands
  Association Executive Officer invited to work with a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) committee to oversee IYV health volunteering awards and to develop a manual for volunteers working in health units. The Volunteer Association are awarded a shield of appreciation from the NHMRC
   
2000 Staff member, Rosie Williams initiated a staff exchange with Judi Reed from Canada. Consequently, Rosie worked as Director of Volunteers at the Lethbridge Health Service in Alberta Canada for a period of eight months while Judi Reed came and worked with the Lyell McEwin Volunteers. To our knowledge this is still the only work exchange of this kind ever completed within a volunteer management framework.

2000 - 2003 EO, Andy Fryar involved with national committee that develops Volunteer Emergency Services Memorial monument in Canberra
2000 The Northern Respite Care program wins the state 'health' category in the National Community Link awards
   
1998 EO, Andy Fryar convened a meeting to investigate the development of a professional Association for volunteer management. Today that Association has developed into AAVA - the Australasian Association of Volunteer Administrators
  The Volunteer Association are represented by EO, Andy Fryar at the World Volunteering conference in Edmonton, Canada
   
1997 - 2003 Executive Officer Andy Fryar, elected a Board member of Volunteering Australia. He serves as national President from March 2002 - Present
   
1996 - 2003 Executive Officer Andy Fryar, elected a Board member of Volunteering SA, serving as state Chairperson for the five year period from 1998 - 2003
1996 Association President Ann Taylor recognised as Female Senior Citizen of the Year for the Elizabeth / Playford area
