When I first commenced working as
a volunteer with the LMHS, I was newly separated and experiencing a very
lonely time in my life. It was only by chance that I read an advertisement
in the Messenger Press and gave the Volunteer Association a call. Becoming
a volunteer was, without a doubt, one of the most rewarding experiences
in my life. I enjoy regularly contributing to the well-being of other
people and on a personal basis; I have met some friends who have now become
a permanent part of my life. In addition, being a volunteer in the Emergency
Department has gotten me interested in nursing which I am now studying
on a part-time basis.
