Business Services

LMH Gift ShopAs our Association is an incorporated not-for-profit agency (and not a department of the Lyell McEwin Hospital), we are responsible for raising all of the funds that are required to provide the necessary infrastructure as we receive no external funding for our core operations.

Volunteers who work in our business service units, play a vital role in helping us to support the hospital and it’s affiliated agencies on a day-to-day basis. This enables us to provide between 80 and 100,000 hours of volunteer time each year directly to the hospital at no cost.

It also ensures that we are able to make suitable donations back to the hospital community to support it’s important work.

Here at Lyell McEwin Volunteers we are focussed on finding dynamic and creative ways to raise funds which in turn provide opportunities for our volunteer workforce to be engaged in fun, fundraising activies.

Some of our core business service / fundraising activities in which we involve volunteers include:

  • Baby Photos – Coming Soon – volunteers assist professional photographers on a weekly basis to coordinate photos of new mums and babies, in return for which our Association generates a commission
  • BBQ Trailer Team – The Association operates a BBQ trailer which caters for local companies and undertakes other periodic BBQ events
  • Gift Wrapping Services – During December each year, our friendly volunteer team conduct gift wrapping services at the Lyell McEwin as well as Elizabeth Shopping Centre in return for gold coin donations
  • Lyell McEwin Flowers and Gifts – providing fresh flowers, gift lines, toys and food for visitors to the hospital
  • Raffles and Lotteries – Coming Soon – We are always on the look out for volunteers willing to support us to sell tickets and plan new fundraising campaigns
  • Thrifty V Op Shops – Away from the hospital we operate a successful chain of retail Op Shops, located throughout several suburbs in the north
  • TV Hire Service – Coming Soon – Within the hospital, a dedicated band of volunteers raise funds through the provision of patient TV services
  • Van & Truck Hire – Coming Soon – The Association rents it’s two vans and truck to other local community groups as well as others wishing to hire these vehicles
  • Vending Services – The Association gain valuable vending commissions in return for coordinating all of the hospitals vending services
